Week of April 26-April 30

We are in our last week of April! Let’s crush this week so we are ready for our FSA starting next week. We will not have homework this week so we can focus on preparing for the FSA.

Monday:
*Last Monday of Tutoring! Until 4:30 PM!*

Today, we will start our day with a morning question and iReady. Next, we will talk about main idea and do some practice. If we have time, we will read “The Unteachables”. In Social Studies, we will explore the new nation in our textbook. We will have some iReady Math lesson time before practicing a new skill as the class. We will end the day with our Science worksheets to practice for FSA and a discussion about our testing schedule.

Tuesday:
We will spend our reading workshop discussing test taking strategies as well as practicing some reading skills. We will continue to read about a new nation in Social Studies. In Math, we will begin to take an FSA practice Math test as a class while reviewing different skills that come up. We will end the day by practicing for Science with our FSA style worksheets.

Wednesday:
We will get iReady Reading and Math time in both of our subjects. We will discuss reading comprehension strategies and begin our practice FSA test for reading. We will continue our practice FSA test for Math and review any skills we are shaky on.

Thursday:
*Last Thursday of Tutoring!* Until 4:30 PM.
In Reading Workshop, we will continue to take our FSA practice test and discuss any skills we feel shaky on. We will do some activities about the New Nation in Social Studies. We will review the skills we needed more practice on from the practice test in Math. We will end the day with our last round of Science FSA worksheets for the week.

Friday!
We will spend reading workshop discussing any last skills we want to talk about for Reading FSA. We will explore more practice test questions. As a Friday reward, we will read our book, “The Unteachables”. We will have a discussion about the Bill of Rights and government in Social Studies. In Math, we will also talk test taking strategies and review the skills from the practice test that we struggled with. We will end the day by watching a generation genius on a Scientific topic!

Week of April 19- April 23.

The weeks of April are flying by! We are going to have a great week. We will not have homework this week or next week because we will work hard in class practicing for our FSA exams.

Monday:
*Tutoring until 4:30 PM!*
To begin our Monday in Reading, we will start with our iReady lessons. We will talk about test taking strategies for reading testing and set goals for our iReady Reading diagnostic. We will turn in our Social Studies project and begin to preview our next chapter about a whole new nation. We will start practicing different skills in Math to prepare for our FSA exam. We will also get time for our iReady Math lessons. We will also continue our practice worksheets in Science.

Tuesday:
This morning in reading, we will take our iReady Reading diagnostic. We will try our hardest so we can show everything we learned in 5th grade. We will continue exploring the United States after the war and see how the country is starting to be built up. We will continue practicing different skills in Math to prepare for our FSA exam. We will also continue our practice worksheets in Science.

Wednesday:
In Reading, we will have time to work through our iReady Reading diagnostic before doing a practice reading assignment. We will get time for our iReady lessons in Math before we continue to review the skills we went over earlier in the week on IXL. We will end the day with Ms. Natasha and Ms. Paige where we will talk about a self-care plan and mental health.

Thursday:
*Tutoring until 4:30 PM!*
We will debrief on our experience on our iReady diagnostic. We will give time for those of us who need to finish while others of us try out our new reading lessons on iReady. We will do a reading practice about Thunderstorms and then go over the correct answers. We will continue to discuss the United States and the process of building up their new, independent country. We will practice geometry in Math before ending the day with our practice worksheets in Science.

Friday! Yay!
We will have a reading comprehension quiz in the morning about all the different skills we have been practicing. We will have time to read our new read aloud. We will watch an episode of Liberty Kids as a Friday reward! Anyone who would like to share their projects will have a chance to share as well. We will practice with money in Math before ending our day with another Friday reward of Generation Genuis and a Kahoot!

Week of April 12- April 16

Hi panthers! Another great week ahead of us.

Monday:
**Tutoring until 4:30 PM**
Virtual students will come to Passport to complete their FSA Writes assessment. In the classroom, we will read and learn about the history of chocolate chip cookies to practice our reading skill. We will work on our iReady lessons and talk about the diagnostic we will be taking this week. We will continue to work on our Social Studies projects all week in class. In Math, we will review for a test we will take on Tuesday. We will practice for Science state testing using our study guides to end the day.

Tuesday!
We will spend time in the morning talking about test taking strategies before beginning our iReady Reading Diagnostic. In Social Studies, we will have project work time. We will take a Math test about multiplying fractions before we end the day with Science study guides!

Wednesday:
**Early Release @ 1:30 PM!*
We will spend time in the morning finishing our iReady diagnostic and working on iReady lessons for Reading. We will debrief by reading a story together as a class. In Math, we will talk about test taking strategies and practice multiplying mixed numbers. We will end the day with a Health lesson from Ms. Natasha and Ms. Paige about “self-care”.

Thursday:
*Reminder- Tutoring until 4:30 PM*
In the morning, we will practice our reading skills and review the different anchor charts for all the genres we have read all year. We will work on our Social Studies projects and do a progress check in on how far we are along in our project. We will spend Math time starting our iReady Math diagnostic before we end the day with Science where we are working through our practice FSA worksheets to prepare for our test.

Friday!
Yay! We made it through the week. In reading workshop, we will talk about different reading strategies and practice paying attention to details. We will get time for our read aloud “Tiger Rising”. When we return from lunch, we will watch an episode of “Liberty Kids” to unwind. We will continue taking our iReady Math diagnostic before we end the day in Science where we are working through our practice FSA worksheets to prepare for our test.


Week of April 5- April 9.

Welcome back! I can’t believe we are in April as a 5th grade class.

Monday:
**Reminder- Tutoring Today until 4:30 PM*
In reading, we will practice on iReady to get our minutes in. We will spend time talking about the writing process and viewing prompts. We will also practice skills on IXL. In Social Studies, we will get project work time. In Math, we will practice on iReady and keep practicing with fractions. We will end the day with Science where we will talk about our state exam for Science!
Homework: Math Worksheet.

Tuesday:
We will spend our morning in ELA doing one last “Mock FSA” run through where we get 2 hours to read, plan, and write for our essay. When we return from lunch, we will talk about our experience and any last questions we have. We will continue to have project work time for Social Studies. In Math, we will work with fractions as a class and independently. We will end the day with Science where we will continue to review for our state exam.
Homework: Math Worksheet.

Wednesday:
**Early Release @ 1:30.**
We will spend our morning in ELA doing a reading lesson with a short story. We will ask any final questions we may have about the Writing FSA. We will also have time to practice on iReady. In Math, we will continue to work with fractions, mixed numbers, and practice simplifying! We will spend our time in Health setting goals for the FSA writing exam.

Thursday:
**FSA Writing Day**
We will spend our morning focusing on our FSA Writing. In the afternoon, we will get Social Studies project work time. We will play some Math games and we will end the day with Science where we will watch a video!

Friday:
We will spend our morning discussing our experience as writers on the FSA before doing a fun reading lesson to wrap up the week. We will get time to hear our class read aloud, “Tiger Rising.” We will have our last project work time in Social Studies before turning in our projects on Monday. We will have a fraction review day where we work in groups to review multiplying fractions with simplifying and creating mixed numbers out of improper fractions. We will end the day with a Science activity.
