Week of March 1- March 5.

Welcome back! I can’t believe we are already in March.

Monday:
**Reminder: Tutoring until 4:30 PM today!**
In Reading, we will start to preview our genre of the week. We will be working with an informational text so we will review our anchor chart and start to discuss the topic. We will also start working on another essay that we will discuss Monday. In Social Studies, we will work in our books to learn about the effects of the American Revolution being in the homeland of the colonists. We will continue in Math to practice adding fractions and finding common denominators. We will end the day with Science where will start discussing our new topic of the Human and Plant Systems.
Homework: Read 20 minutes and log it. Additional Practice pg. 95.

Tuesday:
As always, Tuesday will be our busy reading day. We will read our weekly text, “Rocks and Fossils” and we will answer the Check for Understanding Questions. We will continue to talk and plan for our next essay. In Social Studies, we will continue to read about the battles on the homeland of the colonists. In Math, we will use what we know about common denominators to start subtracting fractions. We will end the day previewing our next unit for Science.
Homework: Read 20 minutes and log it. Additional Practice pg. 97.

Wednesday:
*Early Release at 1:30 PM!*
Today, we will continue to discuss our informational text about rocks and fossils. We will start to begin writing our next essay and do just as a great of a job as the last essay we completed. In Math, we will work on practicing adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. We will get time to practice our skills on iReady for both subjects.
Homework: Read 20 minutes and log it. Additional Practice pg. 99

Thursday!

Today, we will continue to work on writing our essays. We will also continue to deep read our text and learn more about rocks and fossils. In Social Studies, we will finish reading about the battles on the homelands of the colonists and start to do some activities. In Math, we will review to practice for a quiz we will have on Friday about adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. We will end the day by starting our first lesson for the new chapter in Science.

Friday! Yay!
We will wrap up both our essays for the week as well as wrap up discussing our informational text. “Rocks and Fossils”. We will look at an example of a strong persuasive essay written by a fifth grade student. In Social Studies, we will watch the next episode of Liberty Kids. We will take a short quiz in Math about adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. We will end the day with a fun Science activity.
