Week of January 25- January 29.

Welcome back, 5th grade. I can’t believe we are in the last week of January already. Let’s have a great week!

Monday:
*Reminder: Tutoring until 4:30 PM!*
We will jump right back into learning with previewing our weekly text and discussing the constitution. We will get some iReady minutes in and also pick our reasons for our persuasive essay so we can start creating our outline. In Social Studies, we will do activities on Savvas related to the French and Indian War. In Math, we will review decimals place value and preview our next unit of division with decimals. We will also get some iReady math time in. In Science, we will watch a video about energy and have a discussion before previewing our next unit!
Homework: Read 20 minutes and log it. Math worksheet.

Tuesday: Today we will be busy writing, reading, learning math, doing Science and so much more! We will start to read our weekly informational text, “The Bill of Rights” as well as answers our story questions about what we read. We will start to explain our reasons for our persuasive essay. In Social Studies, we will start reviewing for our Chapter test on Friday. In Math, we will continue to practice with decimals. In Science, we will start to discuss our next unit on force and motion!
Homework: Read 20 minutes and log it. Math worksheet.

Wednesday:
*Reminder: Early Release at 1:30 PM!*
We will continue to explore our weekly nonfiction text as well as discuss text structures and text features. We will also get some iReady time. We will make progress on our outline, hopefully finishing and being ready to write Thursday and Friday. We will finally get into our next unit about division with decimals and practice with powers of 10s. We will have a health lesson where we discuss emotions and how to handle them!
Homework: Read 20 minutes and log it. Math Additional Practice pg. 79 #1-18.

Thursday:
*Reminder: Tutoring until 4:30 PM!*
We will continue to work on our weekly story as well as explore another nonfiction text to practice with text features and text structure. We will start to independently write our persuasive essays that we have worked hard on planning! In Social Studies, we will review for our Chapter test on Friday. In Math, we will continue to practice division with decimals, this time working with estimating. We will end the day with Science where we will get into our Force and Motion chapter.
Homework: Study for Social Studies and Reading Tests on Friday.

Friday:
*Social Studies & Reading Tests today!*
We will be busy wrapping up our week. We will take a test on text feature and text structure in the morning before working on our writing. We will get time to listen to our class read aloud, “A Bridge to Terabithia”. In Social Studies, we will take our test on Chapter 4: Life in the Settlements. In Math, we will practice what we have worked on all week and do some 99math! We will end the day with Science where will continue to explore force and motion.
Homework: No homework! Enjoy your weekend.
