Week of November 30- December 4.

Welcome back from break! I hope it is relaxing and that you are just as excited to get back and start learning!

Monday- **Tutoring until 4:30 PM**

In Reading Workshop, we will revisit realistic fiction and learn about the genre. We will talk about our weekly question and think about what “reflections” means. We will start a writing unit that will teach us how to write a longer summary. In Social Studies, we will preview our next unit about life in the colonies after they were settled. In Math, we will start a new unit that is all about division! In Science, we will finally start exploring energy even more by reading our textbook together.

Homework: Read 15 minutes and log it. Math Additional Practice pg. 63 #1-16.

Tuesday-

Reading workshop will consist of learning our new vocabulary words and diving into our week realistic fiction story, “A Pet for Calvin”. We will continue to think about writing summaries. In Social Studies, we will explore the New England colonies and see what their lifestyle was life. We will compare it to our lifestyle and other colonies. In Math, we will keep learning division and estimate quotients. In Science, we will learn the different forms of energy.

Homework: Read 15 minutes and log it. Math Additional Practice pg. 65 #1-15.

Wednesday- **Reminder Early Release at 1:30 PM**

In reading workshop, we will discuss our story and do some work with it. We will work on our vocabulary words and keep working on learning how to write summaries for informational texts. In Math, we will see how we can use models to divide whole numbers and practice doing so. In Health, we will talk about how learning about our emotions helps us get through them.

Homework: Read 15 minutes and log it. Math Additional Practice pg. 67 #1-8.

Thursday- **Reminder! Tutoring until 4:30 PM!**

In reading workshop, we will continue to talk about “A Pet for Calvin”. We will talk about the plot and the characters and look for text evidence to support what we are saying. We will continue to write our summary. In Social Studies, we will finish talking about life in the New England colonies. In Math, we will learn a new strategy to divide whole numbers. In Science, we will continue to explore different forms of energy and sort items by their energy.

Homework: Read 15 minutes and log it. Math Additional Practice pg. 69 #1-13.

Friday-

We made it though the week! We will take a reading quiz in reading and get to read “Wonder” as a Friday treat and watch August’s journey. In Social Studies, we will start to look at life in a colony in a different place and see their lifestyle. In Math, we will do an Etsi-mystery and keep practicing our division with decimals. In Science, we will keep exploring energy!
